Privacy Policy

Effective Date : 3 June 2024

1. Introduction

Shreddit ("we," "our," or "us") is a product of RTools LLC. Since Shreddit is a privacy tool, we are especially dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service. By using Shreddit, you consent to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

  • Reddit Account Information: To perform deletion tasks, we collect and store Reddit account information, including username and authorization tokens required to interface with the Reddit API. We do not store or have access to your Reddit password.
  • Deletion Job Information: We collect information related to your deletion jobs, including start/end dates, deletion parameters, number of items deleted per job, and number of jobs in progress to operate the service and provide a "Deletion History" feature for user reference.
  • Scheduled Deletion Task Data: We collect information related to your scheduled deletion tasks, including task parameters and scheduling information.
  • Temporary Deletion Job Information: We collect information related to your deletion jobs, such as the unique IDs of Reddit posts/comments and post/comment archive files to facilitate deletion jobs. This information is used solely to perform deletion tasks.
  • Usage Count Data: We retain the number of jobs run per month on Shreddit to enforce monthly run limits.
  • Log and Metric Data: We use logging and internal metrics to monitor the flow of user-submitted deletion jobs and other application operations. Logs and metrics include technical details about the deletion process but do not include the contents of posts or comments.
  • Purchase Data: We collect information related to your purchases, such as name, email address, and receipt information. We do not store your address or credit card information.
  • User-Linked Feedback Data: We collect feedback linked to user accounts to handle customer support cases and to address customer feedback, if a follow-up is explicitly requested.
  • Anonymized Feedback Data: We collect anonymized feedback to improve our service. This data does not contain personally identifiable information.
  • License Redemption Data: We collect data surrounding license redemption when a gift purchase is made or a purchase is made on a third-party marketplace.
  • Blocked Users: We use a hashing algorithm to store a salted hash of account names for users who are blocked from using Shreddit. This ensures we do not store plain text account names.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To Provide Our Service: We use your Reddit account information, deletion job information, and purchase data to perform and manage deletion tasks and to provide customer support, if necessary. This includes responding to your inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the proper functioning of our service.
  • To Improve Our Service: We analyze deletion job metrics and log data to improve the functionality and performance of Shreddit.
  • For Support Correspondence: We use your name and email address solely for customer support cases.
  • We do not use your information for advertising or marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Retention

  • Reddit Account Information Storage: Reddit account information, including username and authorization tokens, is retained until you delete your Shreddit account.
  • Deletion Job Data Storage: Information surrounding deletion jobs is retained until you delete your Shreddit account.
  • Scheduled Deletion Task Data Storage: Information surrounding scheduled tasks is retained until you delete a task or delete your Shreddit account.
  • Temporary Data Storage: We store the unique IDs of Reddit posts and comments temporarily to facilitate deletion jobs. These IDs are deleted upon job completion. Files uploaded for the "delete from archive" feature are immediately processed to remove any sensitive information before starting a job. Original files are retained separately for three days to allow investigation in support cases only and are deleted thereafter.
  • Usage Count Data Retention: Usage count information is automatically deleted at the end of the month Shreddit was used.
  • Log Data Retention: Logs are automatically deleted three months from the date they are recorded.
  • Purchase Data Retention: Your license and receipt data are retained to validate your purchase and provide copies of receipts. This information may be optionally deleted when you delete your Shreddit account.
  • User-Linked Feedback Data: All support requests and non-anonymous customer feedback is automatically deleted three months from the date recorded.
  • Anonymized Feedback Data Retention: Anonymized feedback data is retained indefinitely to improve our service. This data cannot be deleted by users as it does not contain personally identifiable information.
  • License Redemption Data Retention: License redemption data is retained for record-keeping purposes. If a gifter's Shreddit account is deleted while opting to remove purchase data, the record is retained but the original purchasing account information is redacted. If a third-party marketplace purchaser's Shreddit account is deleted, the redemption record is removed entirely.
  • Blocked User Data Retention: Hashed account names of blocked users are retained indefinitely unless the block is lifted.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

  • No Selling or Sharing: We do not sell or share your personal information, Reddit account information, or deletion job information with third parties, except as required by law.
  • Compliance with Legal Obligations: We may disclose your information to comply with legal obligations, such as responding to a subpoena or a court order.

6. Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption protocols.

By default, your purchase and receipt data will be retained in case you want to sign up again with the same Reddit account. You can opt to delete this data; however, if you sign up for the service with the same Reddit account, you will have to purchase the service again should you wish to use it.
